Celebrate the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage

August 26 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Gaining the right to vote was a milestone in the liberation of women from centuries of inferior and subservient status, and the culmination of a long and massive struggle. Let’s come together to celebrate our foremothers, and carry on their work.
Kristin Lems, one of our foremost feminist leaders, was on the front line of the battle to pass the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s and 80s, and her song, “Ballad of the ERA.” was the movement’s unofficial anthem. New Yorker magazine called Kristin “a charmer in the most literal and least artifiicial sense of the word,” and Gloria Steinem called her “a one-woman argument against the notion that the women’s movement has no sense of humor.
