Forum on the FAMILY Act
February 17 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Dear Members and Supporters,
We’re excited to announce that U.S. Congressman Bradley Schneider, representing Illinois Congressional District 10, will speak at our Wednesday, February 17, online forum and discussion from 7 to 8 p.m. At this meeting, Rep. Schneider will discuss the FAMILY Act — federal legislation to create a national paid family and medical leave insurance program.
The bill would provide working Americans with up to twelve weeks of paid time-off to address their own serious health issues, including pregnancy or childbirth; to deal with the serious health issue of a family member; to care for a new child; and for certain military caregiving and leave purposes.

As Debra L. Ness, President of the National Partnership For Women & Families, said on February 5: “We applaud Senator Gillibrand and Representative DeLauro as well as the more than 230 members of Congress — 197 in the House and 35 in the Senate — for introducing the FAMILY Act. This critical bill would establish a comprehensive and inclusive paid family and medical leave program that would address the ongoing needs of our most vulnerable populations. … The time is now to pass an inclusive paid family and medical leave policy so workers no longer have to make the impossible choice between caring for themselves or a loved one and their financial security.”
This event is hosted by your North/NW Suburban Chicago Chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW), and co-sponsored by Illinois NOW, Lake County Democrats, McHenry County Citizens for Choice, McHenry NOW, Tenth Congressional District Democrats and more.
